A branch of our business developed in building custom designed garden rooms. The first one built was in the director's garden and has already had many different uses.

The room has been built primarily as a gym / chill out room, but has been claimed by their remaining teenager.

It has also seen use as a teenager sleepover/party room (the house stays in one piece) and occasionally my son (currently at university) or my eldest daughter, son-in-law and first grandchild stay over. It is the most useful room and
no home should be without one!

Another example was of a client who wanted a garden studio where she could pursue her artistic hobbies. The main parameters were that it needed to be light, airy, secure, and warm in winter, independent, and low maintenance. It was to provide that essential space that everyone needs for 'me time'. The lessons we learned doing the earlier version were invaluable in this project. Whereas the earlier timber framed version was cut on site, we drew detailed manufacturing drawings and had the frames and boards made and test assembled in a factory. Working in these dry conditions and using the right equipment resulted in a perfect kit.

This ensured site erection was relatively simple. The client wanted a low maintenance exterior with uPVC windows, doors and cladding. The external finish can be anything and is not limited to plastic.
The finished product has plastered internal walls, lots of electric sockets, internet connection, recessed lighting, double glazing and an extraordinarily high level of insulation to the walls, floor and ceiling. It has concrete roof tiles and is remarkably quiet. All it needs is external planting and landscaping to make it complete.
This type of building could easily be used as an occasional bedroom, an office, a summer room, or whatever you want it to be. Interestingly these buildings can often be built
without needing planning permission (not always!) and can provide very useful additional floor area at a fraction of the cost of conventional building. The main advantage is that it is independent of the main house thereby being hugely flexible in its potential uses.
Built by our own team.
